Living With Your Body

An Anti-Diet, Body Liberation, Body Image Process Group

Tuesdays from 4:00-5:00pm

WHAT IT IS: This process group utilizes techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT) to support clients in building body image flexibility, in order to move towards valued actions involving their body while coming into contact with thoughts, feelings, and past learning in relation to their bodies. Group members will also explore the broader contexts (societal, cultural) that instilled many of the ways we think about our bodies; and will recognize the larger, more contextual barriers to building a positive body relationship due to the insidious impact of diet culture and weight stigma.

WHO IT’S FOR: We hope that this group can support folks of all identities in realizing that they- the individual- are not solely responsible for the struggle they have with their body, and can use this group to facilitate a space to connect and unpack some of these struggles in order to heal and build new perspectives. This group is open to and would benefit anyone with a body, doing their best to live a life of meaning in today’s world which is rife with appearance-based expectations.
